Its 65th annual convocation held at IIT Kharagpur was held in Netaji Auditorium on Tuesday, awarding degrees to a total of 2802 students, while 372 PhD degrees were awarded, which was significantly higher than the 295 numbers of the previous year.
At the same time special honor was given to the 20 former members of the organization. Union Human Resources Development Minister Ramesh Pokhrial and Sanjeev Goenka, Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT Kharagpur were present at the 65th convocation.

Students selected for academic excellence and all round performance were awarded the gold medal by Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhirayal Nishank. 4 President's Gold Medal for Best Academic Performance in B.Tech (Hons) and B.Arch (Hons) was awarded to Kostav Brahma, a student in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering. Kosaraju Akhila of the Department of Architecture and Regional Planning for best all-round performance in B.Tech (Hons) and B.Arch (Hons). Vidhan Chandra Roy Memorial went to the Gold Medal. Shubham Jena of Aerospace Engineering Department and Rajarshi Saha of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering Department will be jointly awarded the Prime Minister of India Gold Medal for best academic performance among dual degree and integrated MSc. Dr. Gyan Chandra Ghosh Memorial Gold Medal was awarded to Abin Devasia, a student of Ossin Engineering and Naval Architecture Department, for the dual degree and best all-round performance in the integrated M.A.C. Manish Gupta of the Department of Chemistry has been awarded the Professor Jagdish Chandra Bose Memorial Gold Medal for the best academic performance in the two-year M.Sc. Srikakulapu Kiranababu of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in Science disciplines will be awarded the Director's Gold Medal for the best academic performance in M.Tech, while Sankalp Biswal of the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is awarded the Best Allround among M.Tech and MCP outgoing students. Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma was awarded the Gold Medal for the performance.
