
Durga Puja, also called Durgotsava, is an annual Hindu festival in the Indian subcontinent that reveres the goddess Durga. It is particularly popular in West Bengal. The festival is observed in the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin, typically September or October of the Gregorian calendar, and is a multi-day festival that features elaborate temple and stage decorations (pandals), scripture recitation, performance arts, revelry, and processions.

Durga Puja is one of the most famous festival in Kharagpur. like every year, this year also the festival was celebrated with great pomp, according to the Calcutta High Court order, all Durga Puja pandals in West Bengal will be treated as container zones this year and no one should be allowed to enter inside. No-entry signs will be placed outside the pandals and for the movement of visitors limited to some distance. While big puja committees will maintain a distance of 10 meters, smaller ones will prohibit all pandal shopkeepers from viewing the sculptures and interiors from 5 meters.
